About Mihail Kostov
Short Description
Mihail Kostov is an adult man who has been obsessed with the works of J.K. Rowling for almost 30 years.
His favorite books by her are Troubled Blood and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He is from Slytherin, and his favorite character is Severus Snape.
He has a daughter whom he’s actively trying to draw into the Harry Potter fandom, but for now, he’s losing to Peppa Pig.
The Story of an Unhealthy Obsession
Mihail Kostov is proud to be part of the first generation that encountered the magic of Harry Potter at the start of this century.
He eagerly awaited each new book, rereading the previous ones in the meantime, which made Harry Potter a part of his life and daily routine—something that didn’t change even after the series came to an end.
The End of the Series
2007 was both an exciting and frightening year for Misho, as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — the final part of the story — was released on July 21st.
What followed were 18 months during which he didn’t read Harry Potter at all — the longest such period in his life.
Fortunately, anyone who truly wants to can always find their way back to Hogwarts.
The “Daily Potter” Club and the Everlasting Magic
To Misho’s surprise, he wasn’t the only one who didn’t want to leave Harry Potter in the past. That’s how the idea for a rereading club was born — a place where all members follow a structured plan to reread the Harry Potter books together.
The Daily Potter Club was founded in early 2010.
Over the next ten years, the club grew and even expanded beyond Sofia. Daily Potter became the perfect place for anyone who wanted to remain part of the Harry Potter world.
Unfortunately, in 2020, just days after Daily Potter celebrated its 10th anniversary, the COVID pandemic reached Bulgaria.
All events were canceled, and returning to normal club activities proved difficult.
Despite this, a small group of enthusiasts continues to meet every month to reread Harry Potter together.
Candid and Personal: About Mihail Kostov
In his personal life, Mihail Kostov is most proud of his daughter, whom he named after his favorite author. Little J.K. is headstrong, willful, and manipulative — a true Slytherin.
Aside from J.K. Rowling, Misho’s favorite authors are Stephen King and Michael Ende. He also loves watching TV series and movies.
For several years, Misho ran the blog Mugglephobia, entirely dedicated to J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter, before stepping away from it in 2023.
Now, he’s decided to bring it back — but he needs your reassurance that there’s nothing strange about a man nearing forty creating a website devoted to a writer best known for children’s books.
